IN PHOTOS – On April 24 & 25, PCDR attended the first-ever University of the Philippines Visayas Fair with the theme SILAKBO. An event organized by the UPV University Student Council, it forwarded pro-people campaigns to the studentry and the local population of Miagao.
During the event, PCDR set up a booth that featured the programs of the non-government organization. Through the booth, PCDR was able to introduce PCDR to UPV students, introduced the institution as an advocate for Community-based Disaster Management Approach, introduced the nationwide network of DRR NGOs of which it is a part, and importantly, relayed the current situation of the agriculture sector which is struggling with El Niño according to the data gathered earlier this month.
PCDR also screened its self-produced documentary: DOSMILBAYNTE (2023) which notes the dire injustice DRR and environmental workers and advocates face in the Philippines.
The whole advocacy-oriented event allowed PCDR to network with people from different backgrounds–an important move for the institution as the work towards sustainable and resilient communities affects all of us. PCDR looks forward to expanding its network and further mainstreaming CBDM through various events.#
